  • Battery issue with my Oral-B electric toothbrush – Tips for best experience

For the best battery performance make sure to fully charge your toothbrush. Depending on which model you have, it should take between 3 and 24 hours to fully charge the brush. If you are experiencing battery issues with your Oral-B electric brush, there are a few things you can try.

    • Check you have charged your brush for the full time specified in your user manual. Be sure you’re charging for the full time noted in the manual. For iO 7 Series and above it takes 3 hours. For iO 6 Series and lower 16 hours. For Genius and Smart range and Pro 3 it takes 12 hours. For our Vitality toothbrushes, it’s up to 22 hours. For the other brushes, they should be charged up to 24 hours. Click here to find the manual instruction for your Oral-B electric toothbrush.

    • Make sure the outlet has power and your socket works for other electronic devices. We know this seems obvious, but it's actually a very common explanation for why a brush won't load - and you might not even be aware of it. Also if it’s attached to a bathroom cabinet, for example, the light switch on the cabinet may need to be switched on to power the socket.

    • In case your Oral-B toothbrush comes with a charger with pin, ensure it is positioned correctly on the charging pin (it has an asymmetrical shape). If you put the toothbrush on incorrectly, the charging light will illuminate, but it won't charge.

    • All our toothbrushes apart from the Vitality and Kids models have a charging light. It should blink during charging. Note that this can take up to 15 minutes to start happening if the toothbrush was entirely drained of battery during brushing. When charging is complete, the blinking should stop.

    • With our Vitality and Kids toothbrushes it can sometimes be difficult to know when they’re correctly switched off. If they’re switched on while charging, they won’t charge correctly. The best thing to do is to put it on the charger for 30 minutes or so, and then try to switch it on. If it switches on that’s great, and it was correctly switched off while charging. However, if it doesn’t switch on, that might mean that it wasn’t switched off during charging.

    • For the best experience with the Oral B iO toothbrushes we strongly recommend to download and update for free the Oral B App on your phones. This will also help keeping the toothbrush software up to date, which can also improve battery performance. Download the free App on AppStore or Google Play (depending on your mobile device), connect your toothbrush and you will be guided through the Update process.

If none of these tips help, you can make use of the two-year manufacturer’s warranty on your Oral-B toothbrush. To do this, head over to our Repair Service.

If you’ve had the toothbrush for longer than two years, it’ll be out of warranty. However, our Service Centers may still be able to help. If you need any more help with this, please contact u by email or phone.

  • Can I replace the battery in my Oral-B rechargeable electric toothbrush?

No, you can cannot replace the battery in your Oral-B electric toothbrush. The battery is contained within the electronics of the toothbrush handle and the unit is then seated to keep it watertight. For these reasons we do not provide replacement batteries for Oral-B electric toothbrushes.

If your Oral-B electric toothbrush stops working, it will be repaired or replaced by our Service Center free of charge, provided it meets our warranty terms and conditions

For In Warranty Service: You can submit your details via the online portal by clicking here or alternatively calling Olympic Shavers on 0115 773 0002.

How long will the process take? Olympic Shavers aims to process your toothbrush in 5 days. This applies to all cases, whether in or out of warranty. Should they have any questions or if you are requesting an estimate they will be in touch, otherwise your toothbrush will be restored to full working order and returned to you.

  • How do I know if my Oral-B Vitality toothbrush is charging?

The best way to check whether the Oral-B Vitality brush is charging is to pick the toothbrush up off the charger after 30 minutes and switch it on. If it comes to life, you know it's charging. Switch it back off and leave it on the charging stand for the full 22 hours it needs to complete a full charge.

With these toothbrushes it's important to know that they need to be turned off in order to accept a charge. As there is no indicator light to let you know and only one button for both the on/off position, sometimes it can be tricky. If your toothbrush runs flat/dies while brushing your teeth, please make sure that you press the on/off button to switch it off. Even though there's no power, if you don't press that button it will remain turn "on" and therefore won't accept a charge when placed on the charging base.

If you pick your brush up after 30 minutes to check, push the on/off button and nothing happens, it was likely in the "on" position while it was sitting on the charger and therefore did not charge. Do not press the button again, place the brush back on the charger, then try again in 30 minutes.

Finally, ensure to place your toothbrush correctly on the charger. The correct way is to place the brush with the logo facing forward – opposite the charger cord.

  • My Oral-B electric toothbrush replacement brush head has stopped moving, even with the brush switched on.

If the replacement brush head is not moving, and the toothbrush is definitely switched on (because you can hear it), the first thing to do is try another replacement brush head. This rules out that the brush head itself is the issue.

Next, have a look at the metal shaft under the brush head. When the toothbrush is switched on, does it move? It should spin around in a circle. If it does not, there may be something amiss with the handle.

In that case, we’d recommend making use of your two-year manufacturer’s warranty on your Oral-B electric toothbrush. To do this, it’s best to use our Online Repair Service. You’ll be able to enter your contact details, and the details of the toothbrush itself, to get your toothbrush booked in for repair. You’ll then be emailed a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label, and a tracking number you can use to keep track of your repair. Note that you’ll need a copy of your receipt for this to be an option.

If you don’t have a receipt, we may still be able to help with this. Let us know by emailing us on our website.

If you’ve had the toothbrush for longer than two years, it’ll be out of warranty. However, our Service Center may still be able to help. We would recommend contacting them by phone or email before sending in your toothbrush, as they’ll be able to advise you what the best course of action will be.

  • What does the red light on my Oral-B electric toothbrush mean?

A red light on your Oral-B electric toothbrush could be one of the following four things:

    • Oral-B Visible Pressure sensor: Many of our toothbrushes feature a visible pressure sensor. If you're pressing too hard on your teeth, it will light up. There's no need to brush hard or scrub -- move the toothbrush slowly from tooth to tooth and let the brush do the work.

    • Stuck toothpaste: Is the pressure sensor lit up all the time? Sometimes a bit of toothpaste can get stuck around the metal pin which connects to the brush head, and this can trip the pressure sensor. To fix this, try rinsing the metal pin and handle under warm water for at least ten seconds. To prevent this in the future, make sure after every use to remove the replaceable brush head and rinse both parts, before drying and storing them separately.

    • Low battery indicator: If the red light is near the bottom of the handle, this could be the low battery indicator (PRO or iO 5 and lower range). It lights up when it’s time to charge your toothbrush, as there is only enough power left in the battery for 1 or 2 more brushes. Now would be a good time to charge it.

    • SmartRing: Lastly, the Smart, Genius and iO toothbrushes feature a customizable SmartRing which provides visual feedback on your brushing pressure, brushing time and selected mode. Using the Oral-B App, you can change the color of this ring, and there are a number of colors to choose from.

  • Oral-B Electric Toothbrush On/Off Button Help

With our Oral-B toothbrushes with a ‘mode’ button, pressing the on/off button once will switch the toothbrush on, and pressing it again will switch it off.

With all our other toothbrushes that do not have a ‘mode’ button, repeated presses of the on/off button when the toothbrush is first switched on will cycle through the brushing modes, and holding the on/off button down will turn it off.

Sometimes, toothpaste can get stuck around the on/off button, and this can cause it to not function correctly, or be difficult to press. We recommend giving the toothbrush a thorough rinse under some warm water for at least ten seconds, as this should clear up any toothpaste residue. To prevent this in future, we recommend always cleaning the toothbrush handle and replaceable brush head thoroughly after every use, by taking the brush head off, rinsing both parts separately, drying them on a towel or cloth, and replacing the brush head.

If this doesn’t work, and you have the receipt for your toothbrush (that is less than two years old), you’ll be able to use the Oral-B two-year warranty to get the toothbrush repaired. To do this, you can use our Repair Service. You’ll be able to enter your details, and the details of the toothbrush, to get it booked in for repair. You’ll then be sent a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label, and a tracking number you can use to keep track of your repair.

If you’ve had the toothbrush for longer than two years, it’ll be out of warranty. However, our Service Centers may still be able to help with a free repair service.

  • How do I remove an Oral-B brush head that's stuck on the brush?

To remove a brush head that's stuck on your toothbrush, try running the toothbrush’s top section under warm water for at least ten seconds. Then, see if you can pull it off. You might have to give it quite a forceful tug, but it should come right off.

Sometimes toothpaste can build up under the brush head and solidify to quite a tight bond. It can even cause part of the inside of the brush head to break off when trying to remove it, leaving a piece behind on the metal shaft. To prevent this, we recommend the cleaning and maintenance routine noted in the manual: 1. After each brushing session, remove the brush head and thoroughly rinse both the brush head and the handle under running water. 2. Wipe the brush head and handle dry with a towel or cloth before putting the brush head back on the handle and storing the toothbrush for the next use.

This should prevent any toothpaste buildup.

Once you remove the brush head, check to see if there's any material stuck to the metal shaft. If so, follow the same process of running warm water over it for at least 10 seconds then pulling it off.

  • Why can I not find the Oral B model 3757 when I want to register my electric toothbrush?

The number 3757 is the type number of the Oral B charger which is included in different brushes.

The type number has a 4 digit number and can be found at the bottom of the electric toothbrush handle and helps to identify the brush handle.
